EU/EEA and Swiss citizens enjoy freedom of movement to Romania. Short-term visits up to 90 days within any 180-day period require only a valid identity card or passport. For stays longer than 90 days, you must register with the General Inspectorate for Immigration and obtain a registration certificate, which grants residence rights. EU citizens do not need a long-stay visa and have free access to the labour market. They can benefit from social services and education under the same conditions as Romanian nationals. In my view, EU nationals will find relocating to Sibiu straightforward, but it’s still important to register promptly and arrange health insurance to ensure uninterrupted access to services.
